The current building is approximately 26,000 square feet. The new building when completed should be about 50,000 square feet. With expanded audio-visual capabilities throughout. How big will the Sanctuary be? It will comfortably seat 1000 to 1100 with a balcony, and allows for an expanded pulpit and choir loft. How big will the expanded building be? After completion, the new Church will have approximately twenty five classrooms, which will be larger than the ones we currently have. We will also increase our office space by 25%. There will also be a much needed increase in our storage capacities. How will the expansion affect the Youth Program? The facility provides for flexibility, using both the Gym and the new Fellowship Hall, providing a place for smaller concerts and plays without the use of the Sanctuary. An expanded Junior and Senior High Youth Meeting Room is also part of the proposal. How will the expansion affect the Music Program? The new facility will provide for a substantially enlarged Music Rehearsal Room to accomodate 50-60 choir members. The Sanctuary will be significantly enhanced to allow for larger concerts. Have the building plans changed since our approved expansion at the meeting on May 24 of 2000? Yes... The building committee in it's initial discussions, realized that if we added additional classrooms and a larger Fellowship Hall, we would most likely increase attendance at our worship services, which has already reached approximately 80% capacity. The rule of thumb in church planning is that when you reach 80% capacity, you should consider expanding the sanctuary. . . many newcomers are uncomfortable with the feeling of being crowded or sitting close to the front. How will the expansion affect the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen? The plans allow for a new Fellowship Hall and Kitchen on the upper level, with use of the Gym and lower level kitchen for the Wednesday night Boys Brigade and Pioneer Girls without disruption. Additional flexibility will be provided for smaller gatherings without using the Sanctuary.
